Projects Officer

Position Title: Project Officer
Reports Directly To: Senior Projects Manager
Directly Supervises: Assistant Projects Officers
Job Purpose

To assist Project Manager in effective and efficient project implementation and management, adhering to strict project deadlines and implementing projects within budget.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

  • Supports the development of project concepts and proposals
  • Implements projects under the supervision of a Project Manager or the Director
  • Undertakes project budgeting and expenditure monitoring and tracking(to ensure project is being implemented as per budget)
  • Details out project implementation strategies, develops project work plans
  • Develops and implement research strategies on designated projects which may include:
    • organising public forums,
    • developing issue papers, questionnaires and other research tools as required
    • administering questionnaires through surveys and other studies,
    • analysing field data and literature for project report
    • collate project findings, data and policy positions in papers and reports
    • consult management committee, key stakeholders and other staff members to develop policy positions
    • present project findings to stakeholders
  • Develops pedagogical tools and training of project beneficiaries, including planning and coordination of training activities
  • Undertakes project reviews and analysis as per project work plans
  • Runs Workshops and Forums as directed
  • Monitors and evaluates project activities, beneficiaries and partners
  • Distills follow-up projects from current project being implemented
  • Writes and submits monthly reports and timesheet to the organization
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Required Qualification:

  • A Master’s Degree (MSc) in any of the following: Engineering, Energy and Environmental Economics, Energy Management, Energy Studies/Finance, Development Planning, Social/Development Policy, Environmental Science or any related field
  • A Minimum of 3 years working experience, preferably with a not-for-profit organisation

 

Required Skills:

  • A broad understanding of the various aspects of fundraising and advocacy issues
  • Experience in conducting research and reporting to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Skills and field experience in project monitoring and evaluation
  • Possess strong report writing skills
  • Experience in presentation, communication, facilitation
  • Ability to work as part of a team, and as part of a wider network with inter-personal skills
  • A self-motivator with the ability to work were necessary to short deadlines
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and Internet use
