Prof. Chris Gordon
Prof Chris Gordon is the current Director of the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Environmental Sciences, King’s College, London and a B.Sc. (Hons.) and Masters in Zoology from the University of Ghana, Legon. In 1999 he was presented with the Distinguished Award for Meritorious Service by the University.
Prof Gordon has over 100 scientific publications including Journal articles, Book Chapters and Commissioned Research reports. Two of his students have won the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences Silver Medal for Best Thesis in Ghana. He serves on several international boards and is an invited speaker at conferences around the world. He serves on the editorial board of journals such as Climate and Development.
Prof Gordon coordinated the preparation of the Ghana Climate Change Policy as well as the National Climate Change Action Plan (2015-2020). He is a Coordinating Lead Author for preparation of the Ghana State of the Environment 2016 Report as well as the Coordinating Lead Author for the Chapter on Status and Trends for the Africa Assessment being carried out by IPBES. He is also part of the ICSU-ROA author team for Global Environmental Change in Africa. In 2016, Prof Chris Gordon was awarded the Medal, Order of the Volta for his services to Ghana's development.
