Ing. Mrs. Harriette Amissah-Arthur is Executive Partner and Co-founder of Arthur Energy Africa (AEA), a leading energy consulting firm providing technical and business advisory services across Africa.

 

With over 40 years of experience in the energy sector, Harriette has held senior roles at the Volta River Authority (VRA), the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), and KITE LBG (previously, the “Kumasi Institute of Technology, Energy & Environment”), where she led the UN-funded African Renewable Energy Enterprise Development (AREED) programme to establish 14 energy businesses in Ghana.

 

As Executive Partner of Arthur Energy Africa, Harriette has led several major projects in Ghana and across the West African subregion that have attracted significant investments into the region. A few of the projects Harriette has made major contributions to include:

  • The review of Ghana’s National Electrification Scheme and preparation of a Master Plan for the 10-year outstanding life of the Scheme.
  • The development and implementation of a US$350 million US Exim Bank-funded rural electrification project, which electrified over 2,000 communities across Ghana.
  • The development of Cenpower’s 340MW Kpone Thermal Power Plant, Ghana’s first and one of Africa’s largest project-financed Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects.
  • The KfW-funded Technical Audit and Formulation of Action Plans to Enhance the Performance of the WAPP Member Utilities.
  • A study for the conversion of the 126MW Tema CENIT Thermal Power Plant (TCTPP) and the 126 MW Tema Thermal 1 Power Plant (TT1PP) into a 330 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant, among several others.

 

Harriette holds a BSc in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, an MBA from the University of Ghana, and certificates in Utility Management and Power Operations from General Physics Corporation, USA, and Dresden University, Germany, respectively. She is a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) and serves on the Board of Ashesi University
