Project Overview:
KITE partnered with We Care Solar to deliver off-grid solar electricity to rural health facilities, addressing the critical lack of power in childbirth care. The Solar Suitcase provides medical-grade lights, headlamps, fetal Dopplers, and sustainable phone charging for emergency communication.
KITE’s Role & Impact:
- Identified health facilities operating without reliable electricity.
- Installed solar suitcases and supporting panels.
- Trained health workers on operation and maintenance.
- Conducted follow-up monitoring to ensure sustainability.
Outcome:
The project saved lives during obstetric emergencies, strengthened healthcare services, and promoted clean, renewable energy adoption in rural Ghana.
